1 box mid-chipping problems - project l
I sorted the problems - I had to restore the xenium back to factory settings
- prepared an installer disk
- which prepared a blank hdd
- which I then prepared in a working, chipped box.
- I copied the restore file onto the E: partition
- used that in recovery mode on the xenium
- switched back into normal mode on xenium
- *then* replaced hdd with original drive
- unlocked original hdd
- downloaded and installed "X2_4981.06_blue_colormod_beta" bios
- success.
- I have evox and XBMC installed
- just need to get the machine to autoboot - it currently needs a button-press or a BIOS selected from menu - thius is not a big deal, but needs a finishing touch.
The rest of the stuff below here is some of the stuff I tried with varying degrees of, but ultimately without success:
background:
pulled working chip from a working chipped box (project l).
Tried on several occasions to wire connections securely without luck .
Is the chip still working?
-initially using the solderless method, then with solder, then with wires, them with the *block*
borrowed a v high-res digi-camera, took photos of underside of board & was able to trace back alternate points for soldering - this was primarily to check with a multi-meter whether or not I had damaged any traces - I had not, but this technique was only able to check 6 or so of the 9 main connections. - they were all ok.
this suggests to me that perhaps it's the D0 point that is the common weak point.
My next task is to resolve an alternate d0 point for this version of xbox - see page 4 of this guide (PDF).
At the very least, this box still works when reassembled + there's the possibility that a softmod or a flashed Tsop might do the job(?)
good practice would suggest getting the HDD key using 007 AUF exploit
the “Uber Dashboard Exploit”!
Also, find out what kernal version. (-"BIOS and PBL" section: PBL will NOT work with kernel version 5530 and above.)
lots of good stuff here
Flash TSOP with no modchip or memorycard (v0.1)
Jumpering the solder points results in write-enabling the Tsop - a switch may be installed.
Tsop pic here.
Ok, so the 007 hack isn't working, the xbox in question seems to be immune to it. One version had worked once upon a time, but now that's not even working now. The same savegame works on other boxes, just not this one :(. I installed a Xenium, with limited success. From the Xodus forums, it looks like I may have to unlock the drive or install a new one. I may have the hdd password which would really help. I have access to two other working chipped boxes ;).
Can verify if I have a password by reviewing the Hdd passwords of the chipped boxes - as seen in recent XBMC info.
