"I'm just saying..."

One of many annoying utterances. "I'm just saying..." is somewhat of a throwaway comment used to apparently backup or justify a statement to turn it into an arguement without the commitment of actually justifying *anything*. If you hear someone chirp "I'm just saying..." ask them to "just say" somewhere else - maybe in a cupboard - if it means nothing? Surely they must come out with similar utterances whilst alone?
